Advanced Search Help

There are four methods you can use to search our site:

• Quick Search

  Using the search box on the right you can enter any term to search across our site.

• Browse Search

  Using the links to the right you can browse through either our catalogue records, or entries in our database documenting people, organisations and events associated with our collections.

• Advance Catalogue Records Search

  This search box allows you to carry out an advanced search of our catalogue records. You can enter your term into the keyword box or narrow your search by:

  • Identifier: narrow your search to catalogue records with a specific identifier, eg. GB3451/OC/D/1801 or S1.345.
  • Type: narrow your search by the type of catalogue record you wish to search: choose archival record to narrow your search to material from our archive collections, or chooose bibliographic record to narrow your search to material from our library collection.
  • Date Range: narrow your search to a specific time period, ie. 2003-2006.
  • People or organisations: narrow your search to catalogue records relating to specific people or organisation.
  • Events: narrow your search to catalogue records relating to specific events at the Centre.

• Index Search

  You can also browse through our site using the index search function on the header. This function allows you to narrow your search to particular information on our site.

You can also narrow your search further using the 'filter by' terms on the right of your search results page.

You can view your search as a list or tiles, or on a time line using the icons on the top right of the screen.
