History

Solo exhibition featuring computer animation and digital works by Malaysian born artist Wong Kit Meng.

Working with SoftImage, 3D Studio Max, and 3D Studio4, the artist explored different sides of human nature. Using smooth animation and perfect shapes to tell his stories, he highlighted the sense of unease one feels for the characters and their situations.
Works included in the exhibition included:
  • Paradise: a computer animation exploring the phrase 'The Grass is not always greener on the other side'. The animation featured a toy penguin on a penguin race track game who plans an escape after having a vision that the outside world would be a better place to be.
  • Impressions (The Cafe): work developed during a project to create a highly developed montage of sounds and still images which were edited and manipulated to capture and interpret the atmosphere and life in a cafe. The emphasis was more on the artistic and atmospheric impression of the place rather and the life there.
