History

Two installations by artist Lee Mingwei, who creates participatory installations, exploring trust, intimacy, and self-awareness. His works are frequently open ended scenarios of everyday interactions and often change over the course of an exhibition

Inspired by the American Quartet by Antonin Dvorak, the Quartet Project, held in gallery 1, explored sentiments of migration by challenging viewers to expand their familiar experience of music to visual and philosophical elements. The visitors movements within the installation changed what they see and hear of the piece.

The Living room invited volunteers associated with the Chinese Arts Centre to act as hosts in a specially constructed living room in Gallery 2. The host filled the room with their own personal collection and engaged visitors in a dialogue with them. The installation explored 'why do we collect?' and 'What do our collections say about us?'.
