History

The first solo UK show for Chinese artist Han Feng, was associated with the John Moores Painting Prize.

The exhibition featured a series of new paintings and a large scale installation. The paintings related to familiar objects from daily life which were presented on a empty background. Removed completely from the context of their surroundings, the images are neither symbolic or narrative, and appear to be a single still moment in an otherwise constantly moving world.

Han Feng's installation was created from photographs of buildings which were screen printed onto paper, which were suspended in the middle of the gallery. The work aimed to demonstrate a sense of dilemma and uncertainty in life by contrasting the fragile materials with the solid building.
