History

Wang Jun's artistic practice focuses on the way in which people in China are adapting to changes in society. Based at 501 Artspace in Chongqing, the artist worked in a variety of media, including painting, photography and drawing. The residency was supported by Visiting Arts.

The artist had developed an interest in the role that rapid economic development in China plays in creating a sense of alienation in individuals. During his residency, the artist planned to develop a project explaining the inherited social codes  that connect individuals to their cultures and groupings. The artist collaborated with 6 local artists and presented their works in his open studio.
