History

Exhibition held in the Centre residency studio, featuring new works by former artist-in-residence Ting-tong Chang. The new body of work investigates automata as a means to explore utopian visions. Ting-tong constructed  talking automata presenting absurd dialogues exploring socio-politically loaded issues, whilst a series of drawings chart a journey through a mythical landscape.

The exhibition also featured So Far So Good to replace the much loved Pay-as-you-go (2012) which became the Centre's donation box. Every time a visitors donated a coin, the fish-like automaton simulated swimming whilst delivering a speech revealing a personal story from life underwater in the Thames River.
