History

Pop-up exhibition presenting work created by pupils at Alder High School during the START education project.

Year 8 pupils worked with artist Pui Lee to create a response to the practice of illustrator Stanley Chow and his exhibition . The students explored ideas of identity, place and memory during a series of artist led workshops. The pupils looked at different methods of creative practice and used their skills to produce hand-made goods for the market installation.

The works were presented in different stalls where they could be purchased by visitors using specially created banknotes. The concept meant that the installation would evolve over time as the sold items were replenished and the hand-drawn money was collected in.  The paper bank notes were also  exhibited within the space, creating a visual representation of the wealth of memories to which we hold value.
