History

This records set brings together records relating to the First Step exhibitions at the Centre, 2004-2014.

'First Step' was an alternative platform to supporting new and emerging talent and was specifically aimed at artists of Chinese heritage whose work could be displayed two-dimensionally or appropriately within a small exhibition space on the stairs in the Centre. Although artists could show existing works, they were encouraged to create new works specially for the space. The space was also closely linked with the CD:GM and the PAD scheme project which supported emerging artists.
